Daniel Mare is passionate about advocating for worker’s rights and challenging systemic oppression. He believes in using the law to advance these goals. Daniel is engaged in Victory Square’s major practice areas.

During law school, Daniel held three different Legal Research Assistant positions for:

  • Professor Bethany Hastie – researched the legal and social consequences of the growing precarious labour problems and barriers to justice faced by marginalized workers
  • UBC Faculty and Employee Relations – conducted legal research on workplace legal issues for both unionized and non-unionized employees, and gained insight into the operation of HR
  • Victory Square Law Office – as a co-op student in labour law

He also received the following achievement awards:

  • John J and Patricia A Campbell Scholarship in Law, 2019
  • DLA Piper (Canada) LLP Prize in Torts, 2017

Daniel values keeping an open mind and learning through all his interactions. This approach is shaped by his broad life experience and a career spanning a range of industries.

Outside the office Daniel is enthusiastic about nature, fitness, meditation, and cold river plunges.
